Applying to CSU Online

Learn how to apply to Colorado State as a Freshmen, Transfer, or Graduate student.

Application Steps

To apply to one of CSU's online bachelor’s degree programs, please follow these steps:

  1. Review available online bachelor’s degree programs
  2. Each degree page provides contact information for the Prospective Student Support Coach. Please connect with that coach regarding any questions about the program or how to apply.
  3. When you're ready, submit your application through the Admissions Office
  4. Review information regarding the application fee for bachelor’s degrees.

Important Dates

The application opens on August 1st for the following year’s Fall, Spring, and Summer semester start dates. We recommend that individuals apply by:

  • Fall semester start: June 1st
  • Spring semester start: November 1st
  • Summer semester start: May 1st

International Student Info

International students do not need a student visa to live in their home countries and complete an online Bachelor’s program with CSU. Student visas to live in the U.S. are typically only provided to students admitted to on-campus/in-person degree programs.

Freshman Applicants

Please fill out this application if:

  • You’ve never attended college previously or
  • All college credits that you have earned, you earned before graduating High School or
  • You have only every attended nationally accredited higher education institutions previously

Domestic Freshman application guide

Transfer Applicants

Fill out this application if:

  • You have attended a regionally accredited institutions after High School graduation.

Second Bachelor’s Applicants

Fill out this application if:

  • You have a conferred degree from a regionally accredited US institution or accredited international Institution.
  • Please note: If you earned a Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited institution in the US, please speak with the Prospective Student Support Coach.

30 CSU credits is the minimum credits needed post-admission to a Second Bachelor’s degree program. However, Second Bachelor students must complete all major requirements.

International students and students who earned a degree from a nationally accredited institution must complete AUCC requirements in addition to all major requirements. As such, the majority of Second Bachelor’s students will complete more than 30 credits to earn their degree. Please complete a TTE Form if you need to know the total amount of credits for degree completion prior to applying to the program. Returning Student Applicants

Fill out this application if:

  • You started coursework (on-campus or online with CSU) and want to return to complete your degree.

Were you academically dismissed from CSU?

If it has not been a full calendar year since you were last at CSU:

  • You can take coursework as a non-degree seeking students.
  • Non-degree seeking students are not eligible to use financial aid.
  • If you raise your CSU cumulative GPA up to a 2.0 you can re-apply to your program.
  • Or you could wait a full calendar year and then re-apply to CSU with Fresh Start.

If it has been a full calendar year since you were last at CSU:

  • For example, your last semester that you registered for coursework was Fall 2024 and you want to be re-admitted for Spring 2026
  • You can submit the Returning to CSU application and fill out the Fresh Start information.
